Japan in November
Enjoy the Fall Foliage Season!
In November, one event you absolutely cannot miss in Japan is viewing the fall foliage. Let me guide you through the vibrant and colorful autumn scenery!
There's nothing more romantic than strolling through a forest of red leaves.
When visiting Japan in autumn, one activity you simply cannot miss is momijigari (leaf peeping). The autumn leaves, or koyo , differ in their peak times depending on the region and temperature.
As autumn arrives and the temperature drops to around 6 to 7 degrees Celsius in the morning, deciduous trees such as maples and ginkgo begin to prepare for leaf shedding, and their colors start to change. Since the foliage begins to change in the colder areas first, the transformation moves from north to south and from the mountains to lower altitudes.
While November may not feature many specific autumn ingredients, many wagashi shops incorporate "autumn" and "fall foliage" themes into their products during this season. Most of these items are limited-time offerings, available only for a short period.
