Kimurano Kakimochi
Sado no Kakimochi Honpo, located in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture, specializes in producing and selling additive-free rice cakes and confections made exclusively from Sado-grown ingredients, notably "kakimochi"—rice cakes kneaded with dried Okesa persimmons, a local specialty.
Their flagship product, "Sado no Kakimochi," combines Sado-grown glutinous rice called "Kogane Mochi" with dried Okesa persimmons. When slowly toasted using an oven toaster or frying pan, it offers a subtle sweetness and pleasant aftertaste.
Other offerings include ancient grain rice cakes, mugwort rice cakes, golden rice cakes, and seasonal yuzu rice cakes, all utilizing ingredients sourced from Sado.
Additionally, "Kakimochi Okaki" features kakimochi cut into strips, sun-dried, and fried in rice oil, resulting in a unique snack ideal for pairing with tea or beer.
