Kara Kara Senbei

Karakara senbei is a very unique toy-filled confectionery. In the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, many sweets have been made since the Edo period, and one of them is karakara senbei. It is said that the name "karakara senbei" came about because the toys inside made a "karakara" sound when the rice cracker was shaken. Inside are more than 150 kinds of folk art toys and knick-knacks that make you smile.
